Christopher Hopper or Graduado Pulga as he is known in the Capoeira world has been a practitioner of Capoeira since 2001. However, before Capoeira, Pulga already had over 8 years of experience in a variety of Chinese martial arts. A life-long student, he is also an experienced teacher. He has taught Chinese Kung Fu, Capoeira and women’s basic self defense workshops at various colleges and universities.
Pulga feels Capoeira encompasses much of what he loves such as the martial arts, music, acrobatics, history and culture all in one art form. Pulga’s philosophy places great emphasis on using Capoeira and the martial arts as a means to overall personal improvement. Capoeira can teach lessons that can be carried over into one’s work, relationships, health, spirituality, and family.
He currently practices under Professor Lampréia’s leadership at New York City Center and teaches two weekly classes at Bamboo Moves Studio in Forest Hills, NY.
