Herman Pardon is known as Graduado Kamikazee in the capoeira community. He was first introduced to capoeira by watching movies and playing Tekken 3.
In 2004, at a Capoeira Batizado, he met Professor Lampréia. At the time, Lampréia could only speak a little English, but Herman liked his energy and began to study under him. He soon found himself training twice a week, perfecting the movements and understanding Brasilian culture. In 2005, he was awarded the rank of Yellow Cord and finally baptized into the world of Capoeira.
While seeking more knowledge of the art of Capoeira, Herman took a summer trip to Brasil for the first time in 2005 visiting Victoria and then Salvador. The trip opened his eyes and prepared him to begin training much harder back in the US. He increased his training to 3-6 times a week and continued to explore his love of capoeira. In 2007, he was awarded the rank of Orange Blue Cord, skipping three ranks.
Currently, Herman is training under the instruction of Professor Lampréia, founder of Motumbaxé Capoeira and Artistic Director of Allied Capoeira Arts Initiative (A.C.A.I), a non-profit organization.
Herman is a Graphic Designer and teaches capoeira at Studio Maya in Brooklyn, NY. He is always looking to help others and improve his own personal goals.
